Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr., has announced the appointment of Ronda J. McKaig to a judgeship in the Ventura Superior Court. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Frederick H. Bysshe at the end of this month. The appointment, which was one of 12 statewide, becomes effective on July 31, 2018.
Judge McKaig will take the bench for the first time on August 20, 2018. The date of her formal installation ceremony will be announced in the near future.
Judge McKaig has served as an assistant county counsel and senior civil attorney at the Office of the Ventura County Counsel since 2014. Prior to that, she was counsel at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP from 2010 to 2014, where she was an associate from 2004 to 2010. She was an associate at Clifford Chance LLP from 2002 to 2004 and at Brobeck LLP from 2001 to 2002.
Judge McKaig earned her law degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles and her Bachelor of Arts degree from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
