The Meaning of St. Luke’s Little Summer

Enjoyable, summerlike days that happen around October 18 are called Saint Luke’s Little Summer in honor of the saint’s feast day. Around this time, there is a brief period of calm weather, usually mild and the leaves are starting to turn colors. If you look around the pumpkins are enjoying their finest hour. Saint Luke is the patron saint of physicians and artists, giving us these calm days.

Saint Luke was also called Saint Luke the Evangelist, he was the author of the Gospel According to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, a companion of St. Paul the Apostle, and the most literary of the New Testament writers.
