Probate Referee for Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Superior Court

    The speakers, Sandi Miller and Michelle Kee, gave brief overview of the role a probate referee plays in the probate process, give some examples of problems or difficulties that can arise, (procedural or specific kinds of property), and explain some things lawyers can do to make the process easier for the referees and more expedient for counsel.

    Sandi Miller is the Probate Referee for the Santa Barbara Superior Court as well as a Real Estate Appraiser and Real Estate Broker. Sandi attended CSU Fresno, CSU Long Beach and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science as well as Psychology in 1982. She also attended Western State University, College of Law in Fullerton. Since being an appraiser since 1984 and becoming a Probate Referee for Santa Barbara Superior Court she evaluates everything within an estate.

    Michelle Kee is the Probate Referee for San Luis Obispo Superior Court as well as the daughter of Sandi Miller. She grew up in Santa Barbara County and attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. She is finishing up her last semester in law school and plans on taking the bar in February of 2023.
