Monterey County Superior Court is pleased to announce that the Small Claims Department will now be conducting select small claims trials in Greenfield. The hearings will be held at the Greenfield City Council Chambers starting in September of 2019.
This added feature follows the addition of the regular South County Traffic calendar and supports the Court’s commitment to enhance access to services for South County residents. Since the inception on June 11, 2019, the Traffic department has had an 83% increase in cases heard in Greenfield.
“We are pleased to be able to expand court services in south county to include small claims cases. These cases do not involve attorneys and we want to provide a convenient forum for the parties to resolve their cases. We will continue to explore the different case types we can bring to south county,” said Presiding Judge Lydia Villarreal, who thanked Greenfield city officials for their help in coordinating the new court service.
