LOS ANGELES – EXPANDS EFFORT TO REALLOCATE JUVENILE COURT RESOURCES

In November, the Los Angeles Superior Court announced that due to a long-term reduction in juvenile delinquency case filings (i.e., criminal offenses, truancy, curfew violations, etc. involving minors) and an increase in filings of dependency cases (i.e., cases involving minor victims of abuse or neglect), resources used to staff some courtrooms currently hearing delinquency would be reassigned to handle dependency cases. As part of that continuing effort, the Court will redeploy resources currently assigned to Dept. 276 at the Sylmar Courthouse.

Effective Dec. 31, 2015, Dept. 276 will cease hearing delinquency cases. Cases currently assigned to Dept. 276 will be transferred to departments 277 and 279, also at the Sylmar location, 16350 Filbert St., Sylmar 91342.

The Court will send notification to minors and their parents whose cases are being transferred.
