Res judicata In Latin, this translates to “a matter judged”. It refers to a matter that has been properly deliberated and decided by a court and therefore may not be further pursued by the parties. The purpose of this rule is to provide finality to the law.
An adjudication of a claim in bankruptcy is pleadable as res judicata in another court.
