Pursuant to Assembly Bill 199, effective July 1, 2022, the maximum civil assessment amount that can be imposed was reduced from $300 to $100, and all outstanding civil assessment debt as of June 30, 2022, was abolished. Effective July 1, 2022, the Superior Court of California, County of Butte began imposing civil assessments at the reduced amount of $100 as authorized pursuant to Penal Code section 1214.1.
