Alameda County jurors will begin receiving $100 a day and an increase in the mileage benefit through a pilot program administered by the Judicial Council of California created to determine if increased financial benefits will result in increased participation and diversity of juries. The increased benefit began on the second day of jury service after September 2, 2024. For details on this pilot program, please see the Court’s press release.
The Superior Court of Alameda County began mandatory furloughs for court staff in order to balance their budget. Almost every employee will be required to take on day per month as unpaid time off. This will result in almost half the staff being off at least two Fridays each month, which could affect service to the public. Please see the Court’s press release for further information.
